VOW Board Director Linda Kalafatides and VOW National Coordinator Alley McDonald were exceptionally grateful for, and invigorated by, the opportunity to attend the 5th Youth Nuclear Peace Summit at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg.
We extend our deep appreciation to Science for Peace for providing funds towards our disarmament education workshop facilitators to travel to Winnipeg, and to the incredible organizers whose thoughtful planning and warm hospitality shaped such a meaningful experience. A special shout-out to Maureen Brouwer, Estelle Lamoureux, Avinash Singh, Sarah Rohleder, and David Newman for ensuring our stay ran smoothly, supporting our workshop— How to Teach About Nuclear Weapons: Teaching Critical Thinking Through a Non-Partisan & Trauma-Informed Lens— and welcoming us so fully into the Summit community.
Please see the video below for our report-back on the event. It is by no means exhaustive, but it reflects the many insights, connections, and inspirations we brought home—each of which is helping to spark new paths forward in the ongoing work for peace and nuclear disarmament.
