Amplifying Voices: The Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan Demands Our Attention

While wars in Gaza and Ukraine are dominating media attention the past year, we cannot forget the people of Sudan who are also enduring an unimaginable crisis, caught in the throes of a devastating conflict that has spiraled into genocide and widespread starvation. Families are torn apart, communities are shattered, and countless lives are lost as violence escalates daily. The humanitarian toll is staggering: women and children are particularly vulnerable, facing not only the threat of violence but also the harrowing reality of sexual violence, malnutrition and disease. As the world watches, the urgent need for immediate action cannot be overstated. We must raise our voices for
those who have been silenced by fear and despair, advocating for humanitarian aid, protection, and a swift end to the atrocities being committed against innocent civilians.

The international community has a moral obligation to also respond decisively to this crisis. Each day that passes without intervention means more lives lost and more suffering endured. We must call on our governments and organizations to provide essential resources, support,
and safe passage for aid workers, ensuring that food, medicine, and shelter reach those in desperate need. Additionally, we must demand accountability for those responsible for these heinous acts, standing in solidarity with the people of Sudan as they strive for peace and justice.

The situation in refugee camps outside of Sudan are also horrible, with a lack of food, healthcare, education, sanitary conditions and threats of violence from within the camps.

One of the participant’s in our film 1.5 Degrees of Peace, Nisreen Elsaim, is organizing relief efforts and has started a campaign to help raise funds for sanitary hygiene products for women & young women, as well as provide the option of internally producing and sourcing other hygiene products for these women living in the four camps outside of Sudan by contributing to her campaign.

Please stand in solidarity with Sudan by taking action.

Thank you.
