WILPF Canada & VOW Joint Letters to Political Leaders

VOW and WILPF have written and sent letters to Prime Minister Trudeau and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly to express our opposition to Israel’s horrific genocide in Gaza and our grave concern about the immense suffering of the Palestinian people. We also appealed to them to reduce the risk of nuclear escalation through disarmament and dialogue and cancelling the F-35 procurement and the F-16 training program for Ukraine on the eve of the 79th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

VOW and WILPF-Canada have also sent letters to the Embassy of Hungary and the Embassy of China to thank them for their “peace missions.” The Government of Hungary has called for a negotiations to end the war in Ukraine and has met with leaders. Hungary has also promoted peace at the European Union and at the United Nations Security Council. The Peoples’ Republic of China has also initiated a peace plan for Ukraine and has helped Palestinian factions resolve their differences and sign a unity agreement. This historic agreement will serve as a crucial basis for governance of a Palestinian state. We greatly appreciate the peace and mediation efforts by other countries.
