Canadian Voice of Women for Peace is looking for a new National Coordinator!
Position: National Coordinator
Preferred start date: March 14, 2022 but reasonably flexible. We will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
Hours: 20 hours/week with flexible hours for candidates in Toronto (hybrid). 16 hours/week with flexible hours for candidates outside of Toronto (fully remote). Some evening and weekend work required.
Compensation: $22-25/hour (commensurate with experience) with a 3 month probationary period

Established in 1960, the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) is Canada’s oldest national feminist peace group. We are a non-partisan, non-profit membership-based organization with consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). VOW values and honours women in all of our diversities and provides women the opportunity to have their voices heard locally, nationally, and internationally on issues concerning peace.
We are looking for a passionate leader who can take on the administrative and advocacy responsibilities of running a national organization. The role is dynamic and challenging with many opportunities to make a difference.
Generally, we are looking for someone who can/is
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with a wide range of actors, groups, institutions and governments
- Past experience and education with campaigns on issues of social justice and peace
- Passionate about intersectional feminist perspectives and works as an inclusive and consensus-based leader
- Highly organized in administrative duties related financial reporting, membership record updating and the functioning of the head office

Necessary

- Social Media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or professional experience in a similar organization

- Airtable- a Client Relationship Management Program or something similar

- Stripe
- French Language Fluency
We will have a training period but we must stress that only dedicated candidates should apply as it is a demanding job and passion for peace and social justice is key. You will be in a supportive and flexible work environment and will interact with 100s of members across Canada, an active Board of Directors and coalitions and organizations in Canada and abroad.
We recognize that war, oppression, violence and systemic discrimination are felt differently and that to be better and to create a sustainable, inclusive peace we must actively promote those whose voices we don’t often hear to listen and learn from.
