VOW and WILPF Canada members recently had a virtual meeting with Senator Marilou McPhedran to discuss our concerns about the federal government continuing to send weapons to Ukraine that is prolonging the tragic war. We also highlighted Canada’s failure to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and our concerns about buying fighter jets and increasing military spending.
We expressed our appreciation to Senator McPhedran for attending the Conference on Humanitarian Disarmament in Vienna and for advocating for the abolition of nuclear weapons, as well as for her leadership on women, peace, disarmament and youth.
