Global Peace and Climate Change: A Perspective of Poetic Nihilism

Dare I say, we as one human race glide upon our fortitude towards the distant future astride the winds of change as graced by Mother Nature; and precious time as decreed by God. From whence we came and to the horizon our fates are tied to – is the blueprint of human history only.

The real challenge is ‘managing the now’. We strive towards global peace but as reality reveals the collective fickle agendas of world’s leaders – it remains a dream. Is global peace simply to deter a nuclear holocaust or another ‘World War’, or is it rather the plight of today’s youth and those of tomorrow. Time to stop making more weapons, stop the abuse of women, stop with the bullying and the violence and the harassment, and the wars which herald the doom of all children – children who will be tomorrow’s women and men. We are the elixir to this disease of bewilderment.

Blaming our guilty conscience isn’t good enough any more. It has become a subterfuge of our reluctance and hesitation to change for the better. And henceforth we stay the same, and global peace is almost drowning among the waves of injustice. Without global peace there won’t be any solidarity, any true power, any true movement – one that would benefit all. Without our unified voices, thoughts and efforts, the darkness of climate change looms closer and closer.

Optimism is not just paper strategy, but indeed a never-ending fight to eradicate the nay-sayers and their evil enthusiasm. As a world without global peace will certainly tether on ignominy and shame. Our decisions to act will transcend the conferences and the board room meetings. For climate change can be for both better, or worse; an amalgamation of us and our beautiful, virtuous and compassionate Earth. We don’t want our future generations to thrive and succeed in a realm of lifeless flowers, decayed leaves, destroyed trees and pollution. A realm of racism and systemic racism. A corrupt manifestation of the blackest of hearts. A temple of material wealth where human lives are mere tributes. An eccentric goal of hindrance and deception. A realm without the magical hummingbird, the mystical firefly, the majestic polar bear, the ancient tortoise, the eco-spiritual reindeer, the far-gazing eagle, the octopus or the blue whale. A realm where all art and song and dance are a macabre parody of their disillusioned creators – devoid of soul, and a logical progression of utter indecision and indignation.

Attaining global peace is a necessity. Controlling climate change is of the utmost importance. Saving the future for ourselves and our future generations is the only priority. I dare say that we as the most intelligent of God’s creations, are still on the path to salvage a fate of honesty, trust, love and laughter; and it is our absolute privilege to determine how to construct an environment free of chaos, of human greed and of the lust for political dominance. The future is still ours to build, to give our hearts to, and to share with our friends and families. We have social-media, forums, an education system, the gift of creating discussions and initiate conversations, and an imagination for a world just the way we want it. The rebellion must continue. We owe that much to this planet, our only home.
