VOW and WILPF-Canada send letters to the Canadian government to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and to plan to send a delegation to the first TPNW review conference

On the eve of the 81^st anniversary of the United States’ atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, VOW and WILPF-Canada have sent a joint letter to Prime Minister Carney and Minister of Foreign Affairs Anand urging them to begin the process of signing and ratifying the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), to plan to send a delegation to the first review conference of the TPNW in November, and to show Canadian leadership on nuclear disarmament. In July, Tonga became the 100^th country to join the TPNW; we want Canada to be next. Join VOW members at the Hiroshima-Nagasaki commemoration in Toronto on August 6 and at the poster exhibit in Halifax on August 6 and 7. Let’s continue to work together to abolish nuclear weapons.
