Women, War & Peace Resource
I hope you are all well and enjoying many opportunities to rest in the summer weather! I simply wanted to share with you a five-part documentary series I found, funded and distributed by PBS. The five-part series proves as an excellent resource and individually discusses how women were / continue to be effected by various conflicts – and how they are demonstrating to be extremely valuable members in the peace process. Issues include: women & their role in the 1990s war in Bosnia, “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” & the Liberian Peace Movement, Afghan Women & the effects of U.S. Invasion of the country, Columbia & issues with class and gender, & finally a concluding capstone which challenges conventional ideologies surrounding war and peace as “mens” issues through captivating interviews with world leaders / thinkers – demonstrating not only how inclusion of women in peace process’ is useful; but necessary.
I hope this proves as a valuable resource either for yourselves or for whatever excellent activism you may be involved in. The link is provided below.
