VOWs  have been busy throughout Spring 2016

We really have been very active these past months.  We went to Ottawa and met with 10 Members of Parliament click here to read more.  We had a delegation of over 20 women that went to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW60)(report back in Toronto at Friends House on April 28 read more here).  Our social media following has been increasing quickly on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn therefore bringing our values to people around the world.

Our National office moved to the Beach in Toronto and this month we had a very successful Open House.  We were visited by our Member of Parliament, Nathaniel Erskine-Smith and we were interviewed by the Beach Metro and also posted to SnapD, an online publication.

Our National Event team are planning a Family Style picnic on the Boardwalk in Toronto’s Beach area on Saturday, June 25th, a speaker event in the Fall and much more.

PeaceMaker’s Summer Camps are in the planning stages as well.

We are committed to our Peace Priorities and more optimistic with a government that speaks about a Feminist Agenda.  We are developing our own Feminist Foreign Policy campaign. We are aware that the government of Canada has launched a public consultation for a new defence policy and we are preparing a formal submission. VOW also has both a Film and a History Committee that meet regularly.

We have so many amazing and committed volunteers but there are never enough.  We need volunteers in all areas across the country to help us to grow – to work on our campaigns, to host events in your area, to join our social media team and in many other ways.  Call or email us to ask how you can help.

We also need your financial help.  |f you have not renewed your membership or contributed to our matching campaign, please consider doing that today.  Our membership is suggested at $50 regular $20 for students and always – pay what you can.

You can click the donate button below or go to our website.  We really do need your help today.
