Program: Ethics, Society and Law, and Political Science

Position: President

Yalda has passionate interest for issues related to equality, refugees, gender development, and human rights. She joined the University of Toronto Voice of Women for Peace Chapter in order to raise awareness about issues concerning women around the world and fundraise for causes that the organization strives for. Yalda is also an External Affairs Director of University of Toronto Refugee Alliance, and Finance Manager of Global Student Network. Yalda’s goal is to work for international humanitarian organizations after graduation.

Program: International Relations and Economics

Position: Communications Coordinator

Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, being exposed to issues people face on a daily basis such as poverty and women’s rights made her passionate about working for change on a national and global level. She loves working and interacting with people, communities, and organizations, sharing her experiences with others and hearing theirs. She believes in the power of the written word as well as of social media in making a difference and hopes to use these to help create a more peaceful world in the future.

Position: Communications Coordinator

She is passionate about world affairs, civil rights, and animal rights. Besides being Communication Coordinator for VOW at UofT, she is also a trustee and mentor for Woodsworth College with the International Relations Society.

Position: Event Coordinator

Besides advocating for peace and women’s rights, she is a student teacher with Peace by PEACE and a copy editor/news writer for my school’s newspaper. She plans on becoming a lawyer and working towards equality and peace worldwide.

Program: Political Science and International Relations

Position: Event Coordinator

Serena’s academic interests include the foreign policy measures of the United States of America, the role of women in global politics, and European studies. In addition to being an Event Coordinator for VOW, she is also a Trustee for the International Relations Society and a College Representative for the Association of the Political Science Students.

Program: Political Science

Position: Finance Director

She enjoys volunteering for causes that encourage woman empowerment, human rights and education. Through volunteering for organizations that support such causes, she has had the privilege to travel and work coincide individuals that have been denied education or prevented basic human rights. With having a strong interest in this field, upon graduation she will be pursuing a law degree focused on human rights law.
