Toronto woman fasting in solidarity with the people of the Philipines
for immediate release:
Lyn Adamson, co- chair of Canadian Voice of Women for Peace is fasting this week for climate justice in solidarity with the people of the Philippines. Adamson says “I will be fasting in solidarity with Yeb Sano and all those suffering in the Philippines. Will you join in for a day, or send a message of solidarity and concern to your Member of Parliament?”
In Poland the Philippines chief negotiator, Yeb Sano, said he would be taking part in a voluntary fast over the coming weeks, standing with his brother and others going hungry in the Philippines, and to call governments to account and push them to deliver in Warsaw. Yesterday he spoke these powerful words: “Typhoons such as Haiyan and its impacts represent a sobering reminder to the international community that we cannot afford to procrastinate on climate action. Warsaw must deliver on enhancing ambition and should muster the political will to address climate change.”
This Saturday Nov 16th Lead Now has called out across the country for people to come together and stand up to Defend our Climate, and Defend our Communities.
