Reception in Honour of Setsuko Thurlow in Centre Block on Parliament Hill

In honour of Seksuko Thurlow, accepting the nobel peace prize on behalf of the International Campaign to End Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), a reception was held in Centre Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.  Several VOW members attended including co-chair Lyn Adamson, Nancy Covington, Eryl Court, and Diane McIntyre.

 

 

 

 

 

There were several speakers including Nancy Covington and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan.  Kazakhstan is the worlds largest producer of uranium. Canada is next.   Kazakhstan was site of Soviet testing and 1.5 million suffered from radiation poisoning. They negotiated a central Azia nuclear weapons free zone which was an astounding accomplishment.
