Nuclear Weapons are Bad for Kids

VOW Halifax Join Mayors for Peace

Friday, August 9, 2013, on the 68th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Nagasaki, Japan VOW Board member Tamara Lorincz and other concerned Canadians
stood outside of the Halifax city hall holding a banner appealing to Mayor Mike Savage to join Mayors for Peace.

The mayor wasn’t in his office, so they presented his assistant, Lisa, with  an open letter, ( read the Letter to Mayor Savage for Mayors for Peace) a signed book by former senator Doug Roche “How We Learned to Stop Loving the Bomb”, a petition with a hundred signatures, and a drawing by Tamara’s 9-year old son Sam. Sam drew a bomb crossed out surrounded by peace symbols with the message “Nuclear weapons are bad for kids.”
