Letter to Prime Minister Trudeau from VOW Co-Chair
Dear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:
I am very pleased to let you know of quick action taken by 200 international women, including myself as co-chair of Canadian Voice of Women for Peace, to try to intervene peacefully in the meeting today at the White House at 3 p.m. between President Trump and the Senators.
A letter (click on the link) Trump admin letter-April25 has been delivered to the White House with some help, and including these words seeking assistance for its delivery, written by Gloria Steinem:
“…I cannot tell you the degree of dread that is present in the streets about this mounting danger, and also the frustration among those of us who have had peaceful contact across the DMZ, and who stand ready to be civilian back channels in any way that could diminish this danger. Please do read the attached letter. We have written it with great care and with long years of experience. We have signed it in unprecedented numbers, diversity, unanimity and global reach. We believe that seventy years of militarism have failed where human contact might succeed. Only you may understand what use we can be at this time of crisis. We want you to know that every signer of this letter stands ready to help in any way you advise.”
A press release (see below) has already been widely picked up, including by the NY Times.
