Danny Glover and Others are Coming to Toronto!

Danny Glover will be one of several out-of-town participants in the Peoples’ Tribunal and Assembly for the Cuban Five, in Toronto from Friday, September 21 – 23, 2012.

Actor, producer and humanitarian, Danny Glover has been on screen, stage and television for more than 25 years. He appeared in the blockbuster Lethal Weapon sequels, the critically acclaimed feature, “Dreamgirls” and “Po’ Boy’s Game” and may be seen in “Honeydripper” and “Be Kind, Rewind”. He has gained respect for his community activism, philanthropy and has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. Among other awards, he earned Emmy nominations for his performances in “Mandela”,”Lonesome Dove”, and “Freedom Song”.

He will be present along with other personalities from the U.S., Cuba, the U.K. and Canada at a media conference starting at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, at the Metro Hall, 55 John Street, (south of King), room 303.

Saul Landau – Scholar, author, commentator and filmmaker, Landau has produced over forty films winning numerous awards, among them the Bernardo O’Higgins Award for Human Rights, the Letelier-Moffat Human Rights Award,the Golden Apple Award, etc. His historical, social and political approaches won him the George Polk Award for Investigative Reporting and an Emmy for “Paul Jacobs and the Nuclear Gang”. He has written fourteen books including a book of poetry, “My Dad Was Not Hamlet.” Professor Emeritus at California State University in Ponoma, he is Senior Fellow at and Vice-Chair of the Institute for Policy Studies.

Cindy Sheehan – Sheehan is the mother of Specialist Casey Sheehan who was killed in Iraq in 2004.
She has since become an internationally known peace and social justice advocate and activist after she camped out near George Bush’s Crawford Texas ranch. She has written six books, the latest one is “Revolution, A Love Story”, defending President Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution in that country. She is also producer and host of her internet talk show “Cindy Sheehan’s Soapbox.”
