April 4th marks the 50th anniversary of the profound and prescient speech of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

On April 4, 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr gave his most important, but least known, speech at the Riverside Church in New York. In his speech entitled “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break the Silence,” Dr. King denounced the US war in Vietnam, decried racism, materialism and militarism and demanded a Poor People’s Campaign. VOW encourages members to read and reflect on Dr. King’s timely message Beyond Vietnam_MLK. See also “Martin Luther King’s Vietnam speech relevant after 50 years”
